News from alums: Katherine Sullivan (BFA 1997)
Katherine awarded Fulbright Fellowship to India
Last week, I had a wonderful visit with Stamps alum Katherine Sullivan, artist and Associate Professor of Art in the Department of Art and Art History at Hope College. At Michigan, Katherine worked closely with Professor Jim Cogswell.
On the occasion of the news about Katherine’s Fulbright to India, I am sharing several images of the new work in lithography she created at the Open Studio Toronto produced in collaboration with Jill Graham.
Katherine’s work reflects upon the dialectics of power and considers the cyclical nature of torture and violence, the sexuality implicit in torture depiction, and the dynamics which prevail between those who hold power and those who are subject to it.
Congratulations Katherine! -Endi
